This Kilt Pin is a replica of the Fairbairn Sykes (F-S) 3rd Pattern. This fighting knife was made famous during World War II when issued to British Commandos, the Airborne Forces, the Special Air Service SAS and many other units. Especially for the Normandy landings in June 1944. However the Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife has a acutely tapered, sharply pointed blade. Therefore It is frequently described as a stiletto, a weapon optimised for thrusting. In addition the Fairbairn Sykes knife when its cutting edges are sharpened can be used to inflict further wounds. The Wilkinson Sword Company made the Fairbairn Sykes with minor pommel and grip design variations. This Commando Dagger Kilt Pin would be a great addition to any kilt.
